School Disco DJ in London for Primary & Secondary Schools

Ray and CiCi Events run discos and entertainment across London for primary and secondary schools and PTAs (Parent Teacher Associations). For primary schools, we normally entertain the whole school by splitting it into infant and junior sessions, with music, games and hosting adapted to each age group. For secondary schools, from Year 7 to sixth form, we provide Year 7 welcome socials, school discos, end-of-term celebrations, Year 11 leavers’ parties, and sixth form celebrations and proms. Years 7–9 get a more interactive DJ-hosted event, with games and challenges where suitable; Years 10–13 get a more grown-up party with current music, requests and lighting, using clean, age-appropriate versions of songs. School discos start from £290 for two hours, and proms and larger celebrations from £495. Different lengths, extra sessions or larger events are quoted to your timetable and pupil numbers.

How it works

  • Infant and junior sessions run back-to-back, or with a short changeover if you prefer.
  • We arrive about 45 minutes before the first session to report to reception, complete any checks, unload, set up and test the equipment.
  • Our DJ/host leads the music, games, activities and interaction, so staff can focus on the pupils.
  • We encourage at least one appropriate member of school staff to stay present for safeguarding and pupil supervision.
  • Music is chosen for the pupils’ ages, and you’re welcome to send a do-not-play list in advance.

For PTAs

PTAs are welcome to sell tickets, so the disco can be a fundraiser. We can work with whoever is organising the event, and invoice either the school or the PTA. Separate sessions can also help with capacity and ticketing.

Paperwork schools ask for

  • Enhanced DBS checks for all our DJs and staff at school events, through uCheck
  • £5 million Public Liability Insurance
  • PAT-tested equipment (most recent test July 2026)
  • We’re happy to provide confirmation and work through your supplier and safeguarding checks before the event

Photos and video at school events

We follow each school’s photography and safeguarding requirements. We don’t assume permission to photograph or film pupils for our own marketing. Any marketing photography or filming involving pupils must be clearly agreed and authorised beforehand.

Extras

Bubbles are included where suitable. Smoke/haze, snow, foam, UV and strobe effects are paid upgrades, with the school’s and venue’s approval and where suitable for the space. UV lighting can create a UV/neon-style disco. We can also provide photo booths (subject to your photography policy), decor, popcorn and sweet treats, so you can source several parts of the event through one supplier.

Schools we've worked with

Avenue Primary School, Newham: Year 6 Leavers’ Disco

“We were absolutely delighted with the service provided by Ray & CiCi Events for our Year 6 Leavers Disco. Having tried a variety of entertainment companies over the years, this was by far the best experience we’ve ever had. The music choices were fantastic and completely age-appropriate, and the children were kept fully engaged from start to finish. Ray communicated effectively before the event, arrived in good time, and their positive, energetic interactions with the pupils made the night unforgettable for them. We cannot recommend Ray & CiCi Events highly enough!”
Lee Franklin-Lewis, Headteacher, Avenue Primary School

Woodberry Down Primary School: summer and winter fairs

“Ray and Cici are fantastic! We’ve booked them for several of our school’s summer and winter fairs, and they always bring so much fun and energy to the day. They really stand out in the way they entertain and get the children involved and participating. They’re engaging, enthusiastic and always a huge hit with the kids. We love having them at our events and would happily recommend them to other schools and PTAs!”
Christiane Hirt, Chair of the PTA, Woodberry Down Primary School

St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School: Year 6 leavers’ party

“You have both delivered BEYOND expectations, yet again! From my son’s 10th birthday party to his Year 6 leavers’ party, you have gone above and beyond every single time and created the most incredible memories for our children. … From the DJing, face painting and party organising to the atmosphere, energy and the way you get everyone involved, you truly bring the magic to every event!”

School disco questions answered

How much does a school disco cost?

School discos start from £290 for two hours, and proms and larger celebrations from £495. If you need a different length, multiple sessions or a larger or bespoke format, we’ll quote to your timetable, pupil numbers and requirements.

Can you run separate infant and junior discos on the same afternoon?

Yes. This is our normal approach for whole-school primary events: one session for infants (Reception to Year 2) and one for juniors (Years 3 to 6), back-to-back or with a short changeover, so the music and entertainment suit each age group.

Do you DJ secondary school proms and leavers’ parties?

Yes. We provide DJs for Year 11 leavers’ parties, sixth form celebrations and proms, from £495, with optional photo booths, lighting, decor and other extras.

How many pupils can you accommodate?

It depends on the size of the hall, the pupils’ ages and whether the event is split into sessions. For larger numbers, we’ll agree the safest and most effective format with you and quote accordingly.

Can the PTA sell tickets?

Yes. We place no restriction on a PTA selling tickets, so the disco can be a school fundraiser.

Can you invoice the PTA directly?

Yes. We can invoice either the school or the PTA, depending on who is organising and paying for the booking.

Do teachers need to run the entertainment?

No. Our DJ/host leads the music, games, activities and interaction, so teachers and staff can focus on pupil supervision and safeguarding.

Should a member of school staff stay present?

Yes. We encourage at least one appropriate member of staff to stay for safeguarding and pupil supervision. Our DJ/host runs the entertainment but doesn’t replace the school’s normal safeguarding responsibilities.

Are all your DJs Enhanced DBS checked?

Yes. All Ray and CiCi Events DJs and staff working at school events hold Enhanced DBS checks, carried out through our company using uCheck. Confirmation can be provided where required.

Can the school provide a do-not-play list?

Yes. Send us a do-not-play list or any music or content restrictions in advance, and we’ll work within them.

How early do you arrive?

Normally about 45 minutes before the first session, so we can report to reception, complete checks, unload, set up and test the equipment.

Can we book you for recurring school events?

Yes, subject to availability. Schools and PTAs can book us for recurring discos, leavers’ events and other celebrations. We recommend booking early for popular dates.

Which areas do you cover?

Based in South London, we regularly cover London, Surrey, Kent, Essex and Hertfordshire, and we’re happy to travel further across the UK. International bookings are considered on request. All bookings are subject to availability, with travel, parking, congestion or accommodation costs where necessary.
